Sentosa Restaurants
Sentosa is a popular island resort in Singapore. Sentosa means “peace and tranquility” in Malay. In the nineteenth century, the island was important since it protected the passage into Keppel Harbour. During the Second World War, the island was a British military fortress.
In the 1970s, the Singapore government decided to develop the island into a holiday resort for local visitors and tourists. In 1972, the island was renamed to “Sentosa” and in 1974 the Singapore Cable Car system was built in order for it to link Sentosa to Mount Faber (a milestone in Singapore). A series of attractions were opened for visitors: Fort Siloso, Surrender Chamber wax museum, Songs of the sea, and the Underwater World. The causeway bridge was opened in 1992 connecting Sentosa to the mainland. Just recently, Resorts World Sentosa opened which includes the first casino in Singapore and Universal Studios.
